Commonly known as Restylane®, Juvederm® and Radiesse®, cosmetic fillers are made of a safe and natural substance called Hyaluronic Acid which works by restoring volume and fullness to the skin. Cosmetic fillers are normally injected into deep facial folds and wrinkles in order to smooth out areas such as nasolabial folds, also known as smile lines, and into the lips for lip augmentation and plumping.
The way your skin looks is directly related to the way your skin is supported. As we age, the natural support layers in the skin break down resulting in the formation of wrinkles. Cosmetic fillers add volume lost during the aging process by temporarily smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles. Restylane, Captique and Hylaform are injected just under the skin’s surface in order to temporarily correct wrinkles. This is a simple procedure which can be done during your lunch hour. You will see immediate results lasting about 6 months.
How will my skin look and feel immediately after treatment?
Most people feel comfortable in resuming their normal activities following treatment. Temporary puffiness of the treated areas, however, should be expected.
Do the injections hurt?
In general, injections cause some discomfort. Fillers are injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort.
What concerns should I have after treatment?
If there is swelling or redness after the injection you should minimize your exposure to sun and UV lamp. Within the first 24 hours, patients should avoid strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages as exposure may cause temporary redness and swelling at injection sites.
When may I apply Make-up?
Make-up may be applied a few hours after treatment if no complications are present such as open wounds, bleeding and infection.
Without touch-up injections, how will my skin look?
Correction will reduce gradually until your skin looks like it did before.
